Meet Tammy & Greg from Chasing the Cashes
Newly married Tammy and Greg Cash, of Chasing the Cashes, traded the 60-hour work week for a life of travel together. They are exploring this great country from East to West and North to South. With the support of workcamping making this possible, they have made some amazing memories and friendships along the way.
“Our country is so beautiful. I mean, it’s beautiful. It’s big. You could go a whole lifetime of this travel, see everything and redo it again.”
Tammy and Greg Cash are a married couple who have been living and traveling full time for the past five years. They have visited 39 states and have a goal to make it to 33 years together.
Tammy and Greg Cash felt inspired when they met work campers on their first camping trip in Alabama. After retiring, they decided to pursue full-time work camping and started their journey on the Oregon coast – an experience that sealed the deal and made them fall in love with the lifestyle.
They have since travelled to Maine, Michigan, and Washington, and continue to explore and meet new people. They love the freedom of living on their own terms, being able to explore and appreciate the beauty of the country. They are grateful for the experience and are looking forward to their next destination.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. How does work camping enable people to explore the country?
2. What is it like to travel and live full-time in an RV?
3. How can people research and find the right work camping job?

Chapter Summaries – Ep 05 Chasing the Cashes:
[00:00:00]
Welcome to the Morris Sunset. Podcast. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live debt free, sell it all and live small? These are just some of the stories of those who have jumped outside the box and living life on their terms.
[00:00:52]
In panama City Beach, Florida, volunteers work a few hours a week at a state park. For people who don’t know what that means, that means we are work camping. And then we get to explore the area and enjoy the beautiful views and sunsets and the beach.
[00:03:01]
We’ve been on the road four and a half, almost five years. It’s just the two of us. No kids, no pets. We’ve checked off 39 states on our map from just work, camping and traveling. Get to love on babies and send them home.
[00:04:46]
Greg and his wife moved into their RV in May of 18. Retired on Friday and started work camping the next Friday. Have thoroughly enjoyed the full time life.
[00:08:59]
Greg and I want to make it to 33 years together. Our biggest why is the fact that we got married so much later in life. We started using hashtag to33 to try and make it that far.
[00:11:58]
Our first work camping gig was actually in Alabama. The moment for me was when we went on our first road trip gig and we end up in Oregon on the coast. I thought, this is the vibe you won’t for life. We were just absolutely hooked.
[00:14:40]
Maine was our second summer out. It was a little different experience because it was route when COVID kicked in. They all been good. We haven’t had really any bad experiences.
[00:15:25]
The coast of Oregon and Washington is just something unique. There’s just something so special about that west coast and seeing those sunsets. Kate: I haven’t gone to the north yet, but just when we hit that California coast in Santa Monica, too.
[00:17:22]
When you guys started this, there must have been some fears that you had or concerns before jumping into this. Our biggest worry not really fear but worry was the money part of it. Only thing we worry about is gas, getting up and down, traveling, hiking, all the things.
[00:20:14]
Don’t always take the first job that’s offered to you. Make sure it’s somewhere you really want to go. Not every job is right for you. Do you ever turn down work camping jobs? All the time.
[00:24:15]
The money is too good not to go to the Beet Harvest. The people are good and our group. Of people that are at our particular location can’t beat it. We’re like one gigantic family. Every night that we’re not working, we are all at the legion.
[00:25:30]
Our first work camping gig was in Alabama. For us it’s more finding where we want to go and then we reach out and basically send them our resume. For people who are looking to do this kind of thing, I would go to whatever state you want to.
[00:28:07]
The couple has been on the road for four years. They say they have no intentions of coming off the road any time soon. It’s all about attitude, they say. The little things that happen can’t ruin the big picture of what they’re doing.
[00:31:01]
How has being on the road impacted family and relationships? I feel like it strengthened them because we’re able to go and see them when we want to. We don’t have a timeline. We just want to keep doing it while we can and enjoy loving it.
[00:35:05]
The whole point of this podcast is to inspire others who are looking to change their life path or take a big leap and think outside the box of how to live. What’s holding you back? Think about money, think about work camping. Find out what’s the one thing that’s holding people back and get past it.
[00:39:09]
This whole lifestyle has its highs and lows. What would you say was your lowest low for each of you throughout these last four and a half years? The lowest low is family members passing away while you’re out on the road.
[00:40:32]
Tammy and Greg have been RVing for four years. The couple say the one thing that sticks out the most is being able to move about the country when their grandkids are born. Tammy says one of her biggest highs is meeting other people on the road.
[00:47:18]
